Refugee Migrant Connect
Moving to a new country comes with many challenges, and navigating the digital world is often one of them. Refugee Migrant Connect helps refugee and migrant mothers build the digital skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to participate more fully in everyday life in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Delivered in partnership with Beyond Aotearoa (Safari Playgroups), this pilot programme creates a welcoming and supportive learning environment where participants can develop practical digital skills while building confidence, connection, and independence.
About the programme
Refugee Migrant Connect is a tailored digital literacy programme designed specifically for refugee and migrant families.
Through 20 hours of guided learning, participants gain practical digital skills that support everyday tasks, family wellbeing, education, employment opportunities, and community participation.
The programme focuses on:
Building confidence using digital devices and online services
Accessing education, health, and community information online
Supporting children's learning through digital tools and platforms
Exploring pathways to employment and professional development
Developing digital skills in a safe, culturally supportive environment
Strengthening social connection and community participation
Alongside digital learning, the programme provides a supportive community setting where participants can learn together, ask questions, and grow their confidence at their own pace.
